Top 3 Ways To Improve Your Yoga Routine


Yoga and DistractionsDoes this look familiar? I know what it’s like to get distracted when you are doing your best to follow along with one of your Yoga Burn workouts, and you hear the incessant “ding” of a text message or incoming email. It can be so easy pick up your phone for what seems like a quick look or response but all too often turns into an internet browsing session or drawn out conversation! We’ve all been there!

Well, today I have some tools for you that have helped me and many other women to stay on track and really experience yoga to the fullest.

  1. Turn your phone and any computer notifications on silent when you are on your mat so you don’t even hear new messages coming in. If you go to ANY yoga studio in the world you absolutely must have your cell-phone on silent, if it’s even allowed in the practice room in the first place. Try your best to follow this same rule at home. You can even schedule recurring “quiet time” on your phone so you don’t even have to think about it!
  2. Keep your computer or whatever device you are using to play YogaBurn videos on out of arms reach. If it is inconvenient to change what’s on the screen you are highly unlikely to drift away from your focused yoga practice to say…focusing on searching for new yoga pants
  3. The last idea is to make sure that the people closest to you know what time of day you will be doing yoga, if you are in a routine. That way friends and family are less likely to call or drop-by if they know they will be interrupting. If you have children, hours when they are asleep or out of the house tend to be the safest time to un-roll your mat for obvious reasons!

Remember, while you are on your mat the more you focus the more benefits you will receive out of each and every single minute you spend truly in “the zone”! This short amount of time away from your responsibilities will make life more enjoyable and hopefully encourage you to be more present in the time spent with loved ones. How great is that for everyone you come in contact with! Keep in mind that taking care of yourself is one of the best ways to take care of your family.
